Copyright Law

This topic will begin with a discussion of the purposes of copyright law, will proceed to investigate the subject matter of copyright protection, what criteria works must meet to be eligible, who owns copyright, what rights authors have to control (and not control) certain kinds of uses of their works, special rules concerning transfers of rights, infringement standards, and remedies for infringement, and will consider constitutional, statutory, common law and international dimensions of copyright and related rights such as anti-circumvention rules. Current controversies in copyright litigation, legislation, and scholarship will also be covered.
